Castle Division
Comes from Hazlewood Castle, which is just off the A64 between Tadcaster and Bramham Cross Roads. It is mainly of castellated Georgian design but it contains a thirteenth century chapel. For eight centuries Hazelwood was the home of the Vavasour family being started in 1266 by Sir William Vavasour. The house was then used as a retreat and hostel run by a community of Carmelite Friars. It is now a hotel.
Castle Division in the West this covers Tadcaster, Sherburn in Elmet, Church Fenton, South Milford, Copmanthorpe and Bishopthorpe.
