Priory Division
Is named after Healaugh Priory, which is between Tadcaster and Wighill. We know that a nun called Heiu established a monastery near Tadcaster in 650 AD and that in 1218 a priory was built there for Augustinian Canons. This was dissolved in 1535 and later much of the stone was used in other buildings. The doorway used on our standard is from an old house in the vicinity.
Priory Division covers Acomb, Poppleton, Dringhouses, Holgate and South Bank.
