Tower Division
Comes from Clifford’s Tower, a well known landmark in the city. York Castle was first erected by William the Conqueror. It consisted of a Watchtower surrounded with a Bailey – court on and earthen mound. The present stone Keep replaced the original wooden one in the 13th century.
Tower Division covers Heworth, Tang Hall, Dunnington, Heslington, Fulford and Wheldrake.
