Baden-Powell Challenge
-
The Baden-Powell Challenge is the ultimate achievement for a Guide. It is for Guides who wish to stretch themselves as individuals to achieve the very best that they can. It is not about achieving a set standard, nor is it about being academically able.

Any Guide who has made her Promise, completed as least two Guide Challenge badges and gained two interest badges, may start the Baden-Powell Challenge.
It is important that she recognises that she will have to be in charge of developing a personal action plan, in discussion with her Leader. This means the Guide will need to be fully committed and confident in her approach to undertake the Challenge. It is reasonable to expect that a Guide will aim to do this only once – probably towards the end of her time in the Guide section.
The Baden-Powell Challenge has two parts: the ten challenges and the Baden-Powell Challenge Adventure.
The Ten Challenges
A guide must complete ten challenges of her choice, at least one of which should be from each of the programme zones of Discovery, Healthy lifestyles, Celebrating diversity, Global awareness and Skills and relationships. The challenges are listed in the syllabus which appears in the Badge file (Product code 6821, £4.50, available from the online shop) and G file (Product code 6628, £6, available from the online shop).
For her other five challenges, a Guide can choose from any of the remaining challenges, or she can count participation in an accredited Association or Country/Region initiative. Up to two challenges can relate to a special initiative.
When does a Guide go on her Baden-Powell Adventure?
When she has completed eight clauses out of the ten, a Baden-Powell Challenge notification form should be sent to the person in the local area who organises Baden-Powell Adventures. A Baden-Powell Adventure is a chance for the Guide to meet other Guides from other units and celebrate her achievements. It is usually residential.
Baden-Powell Adventure
Llama Trekking, Murder Mystery Weekends, Water Activities, Sports Camps, Drama Weekends . . . just some of the BP Adventures that Guides in this county have taken part in.
The BP Adventure is a non-assessed part of the BP Challenge. It is intended to be a reward for the efforts that Guides have made in completing the Challenge. Adventures are usually residential events organised by the County. They also offer the chance to learn about the opportunities available to girls aged over 14 in Guiding.
If you, or someone you know, has completed or is close to completing their BP Challenge please contact the BP Adventure Coordinator for more information about the next BP Adventure.
