FAQ
Will individuals be able to enter their own qualifications?
Qualifications can only be added by the level Commissioner or on County Go! by the County Membership Coordinator.
If you gain a qualification with a County you do not have a role in who is responsible for updating the records?
This should be done by your local Commissioner on production of evidence that you have gained the qualification.
If someone is transferring will they require a new Criminal Record Disclosure?
Once a certificate has been recorded on Go! there is no requirement at the moment for an existing member to complete another check if they transfer or change roles.
If someone returns to guiding after a break do they have to do a new Criminal Records Disclosure Check?
If the individual has been ‘inactive’ for less than three years, their record shows that they have completed a Criminal Records Disclosure Check, they will not require another one. However, if they are returning after three years then a new check is required.
Will the system cope with the introduction of new legislation eg the Vetting and Barring Scheme?
Yes, any changes to recruitment checks through internal or external changes will be incorporated on to Go!
Who can access Go! ?
In order to access Go! an individual must be an active or recognised volunteer and have completed the appropriate recruitment checks for the role they will be undertaking. This will be a satisfactory Criminal Record Disclosure and two satisfactory references.
Will Adviser/Coordinators be able to access details of all Leaders in the County/Division/District with a specific qualification/skill?
No but they will be able to speak to the County Membership Coordinator who can run a report form County Go!
What happens when a Leader’s role changes or they get an additional role which requires greater access rights?
Because entitlements are ‘driven’ by the role, the access rights will automatically be given when the individual is active in the role. Likewise when they reach the end of the term of office and the role becomes inactive they will lose the access rights for that role.
Who can access girls data?
Only the Leaders and Assistant Leaders can view, add, and amend data. They may also have a unit Key User to do this for them. Young Leaders and Unit Helpers will be able to view some information.
As a Ranger Leader can I get the contact details of 13+ Guides, so that we can send them information about Senior Section opportunities to encourage Guides to move to Rangers?
No, but you will be able to create an email and ask Guide Leader to forward it to all the parents of the 13+ Guides.
